Abstracts
In August 2018, a new school discipline, Media Literacy and ICT, was introduced in Switzerland.
This article provides an overview of the current situation regarding the new school discipline, and
its development. The article shows how schools already taught Media Literacy and ICT. The article
also sheds light on what Swiss parents expect from the new school discipline, and what they actually
know about its composition. The results from a small pre-study indicate that parents express
different expectations and prejudices regarding Media Literacy and ICT, depending on the age of
their children. The majority of the parents in the sample had a limited understanding of the school
discipline.

Ich bin nicht ganz glücklich damit, dass in diesem Artikel "Informatik" mit "ICT" übersetzt wird. Das müsste "computer science" oder "informatics" heissen.In der Tabelle 3 geht meiner Meinung nach verloren, dass im Fach "Medien und Informatik" wirklich programmiert wird. "The pupils are able to create their own algorithms" ist meiner Ansicht keine gute Übersetzung/Verkürzung von "können selbstentwickelte Algorithmen in Form von lauffähigen und korrekten
Computerprogrammen mit Variablen und Unterprogrammen formulieren."
